November Newsflash

The latest parish council meeting was held on 14th November.  Here are the highlights:

Development Site updates

Harrier Way Works

  • The resurfacing of Harrier Way will hopefully commence January 2023, the contractor will start at the bottom end of haul road aiming to do the work outside the school during the Christmas holidays.  Affected residents will receive a letter from Crest about the works.
  • It is hoped that the County Council will approve the Harrier Way junction improvements in time for this to be done when the resurfacing reaches that end of Harrier Way.
  • The Vistry area will be open for 3 days during the resurfacing works then closed again.  Vistry should be completely finished in August.

Allotments

  • Discussions about the allotments continue, but no further update at this time.

Community Building

  • The plans for the community building are still not approved, it is proving difficult for Crest to provide a building that meets the needs of the village within the price cap.  Crest is meeting with architects in November to discuss new design.

Public Open Spaces

  • The bulk of play equipment has been installed, with the remaining kit to be installed w/c 19th November (there was a delay from the supplier), it should be completed by end of this year.
  • The wet pour safety surface was due to start this week providing it wasn’t too cold.
  • The play areas won’t be open to the public until a safety check has been completed by RoSPA.
  • There is a delay to the completion of the paths as a minor planning amendment relating to the surface materials has not yet been agreed.

Highways updates:

  • A38 junction works are still pending formal approval by Atkins on behalf of Gloucestershire County Council.  The works have been agreed in principle but won’t start until next year.

Lime Tree Avenue access to Harrier Way:

  • It was reported in the October council minutes that the access appeared to have been opened.  However, this was just because part of the fence had fallen down in bad weather and the roadway is not open – please do not attempt to drive through.

Events:

  • The Parish Council is working with the School on the Christmas Fair 12-3pm on Saturday 3rd December.  Please come along to support the school and bring your children to meet Father Christmas and his elves.

Other matters:

We are looking into what we can offer young people on the estate, and considering all sorts of options including holiday activities, after school clubs and perhaps a youth club or youth council.  The Parish Council unexpectedly received some funds from the Community Infrastructure Levy and we could use some of those funds towards providing youth services.  More information on this soon.

Council meetings are held on the 2nd Monday evening of each month at the Hunts Grove Primary Academy, please check website for agenda and meeting papers
