The Reorganisation Order (‘the Order’) to create the Parish of Hunts Grove was made on the 31st January 2020 with the election of parish councillors for the new parish to be held on the ordinary day of election of councillors in 2020 (7 May 2020).
The Coronavirus Act 2020 postponed the elections in May 2020 and applies to elections to new authorities. Therefore, any reference to the “ordinary day of elections in 2020” in the Order now means “6 May 2021”. The commencement date in the Reorganisation Order is clear that Hunts Grove Parish exists from the 1 April 2020.
As the parish council is a legal entity and must govern, Article 10 of the Order provides for the transitional arrangements between creation of the parish and the elections to it which is now 6 May 2021. These transitional arrangements allow for the Hardwicke and Severn County Councillor and the three Hardwicke District Councillors to represent Hunts Grove Parish Council as a Shadow Council until the 6 May 2021.
