Budget 2023-24

The Parish Council has set its budget for 2023-24. Due to the way the council tax is calculated we will receive slightly less funds than this year even though there are more properties built at Hunts Grove.  To keep the increase to residents as 0% we have decreased the annual budget from £53,000 to £52,250.

Alongside the usual operational costs of having a parish council, there are 3 main parts to the budget:

  • Maintenance: the adoption of Phase 1 hasn’t progressed as expected therefore we have earmarked funds raised in 2022-23 to be used in the future alongside a reduced maintenance budget.
  • Legal: the Parish Council continues the campaign to abolish the management company, and we have included legal advice and guidance in the budget.
  • Youth: new for 2023-24 budget is the inclusion of youth provision.  The Parish Council is keen to provide opportunities and activities for the young people of the parish, this could be a youth club or holiday activities.  We are working on a youth strategy and applying for grants to supplement the budget.

The aim of this Parish Council is “One Hunts Grove” where all residents pay the same, have equal access to village facilities, and are paying substantially less than the management company alternative.  The precept we charge may vary as the village grows and the Parish Council takes on more responsibilities.
