Hunts Grove A38 Junction - Plans

The current plans for the new Hunts Grove A38 junction were approved in 2018, following a re-design to accommodate the upto 750 additional homes that will be Hunts Grove Extension. The original plans had dedicated provision for a bus route that would see buses only using the old B4008 / Bath Road route, with all vehicles accessing the A38 directly.

The updated plans from 2018 removed the specific bus route and split traffic from the new junction between the B4008 and A38 in order to reach Crosskeys Roundabout. With the increased traffic from Hunts Grove when fully built (2,500 homes), the highways department acknowledges that there will likely be substantial queuing. Essentially, the new plans split this queue between the A38 main line and the B4008 Bath Road.

Vehicles leaving Hunts Grove will not access the new A38 junction directly, they will turn left onto the old B4008 to reach Crosskey's roundabout.

Vehicles leaving Hardwicke / Quedgeley using the overbridge will be routed through the A38 Hunts Grove junction direct to the A38 towards Crosskeys Roundabout.

An exhibition document was produced to explain this in 2017, and this is linked below for your reference. Note that "Consented" refers to the old plans, and "Proposed" refers to the latest plans approved in 2018 - i.e. what will be built.
